OpenSource Hardware

What is it?

Any computer or electronic hardware that is designed in the same fashion as free and open-source software is referred to as Open source hardware. Open source hardware is part of the open source culture that takes the open source ideas to fields of electronics and chip manufacturing design.

A hardware design can be considered open source if its HDL (hardware description language) source code or schematic is distributed with a license that

1) grants permission to freely distribute the source code and any hardware device based on it (obviously the cost of manufacturing is included).

2) grants the right to create derivative works based on the source code and distribute them under the same license.

Open Source Hardware means that every file needed to understand and rebuild a project is open and readable by either open source EDA programs or at least by freely available commercial tools. For the Open Hardware a special Open Hardware Public License OHPL is developed which is based on the GPL with some modifications to fit into the hardware context.

How are we contributing to it?

Currently, we are in the process of compiling the list of projects to be done from company perspective while undergoing a feasibility and usefulness of the project to the open source community.

Please stay in touch during this time and in case you have some idea of doing any project under the same, let us know at  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for funding opportunities and technical assistance.
