Course Description:This course provides an overview of practical approach towards designing and fabricating sensor based embedded automation systems. Topics include procedural approach of system design, selection of appropriate sensor, signal processing and interfacing to the microcontroller. The course also includes study and hands on experience of interfacing ADC / DAC, temperature, magnetic and optical sensors, IR sensors, time based measurement, various output control methods (on/off, proportional control and PID control) and motor control. An introduction to MEMS technology, High-precision applications and PCB design issues like EMI/ESD protection and ground loops is also provided at the end of the course. The course proceeds with hands-on experience after every session. Student will design two working sensor application projects in a group-based short project.
Labs and projects:Lab sessions are geared towards completion of a final project– Advanced motor control system. A total of 7 experiments are performed during the course proceedings.
Technical requirements:The candidate must be familiar with basic concepts of basic electronics, embedded systems and C programming. All the software required for homework practice will be provided on CD with course material. Course details:Course Details: RA-002: Practical approach to use sensors (82,74 KB) |
